While working as a dental technician apprentice at an MRC clinic in Shizuoka, Takaoki Shioda met a New Zealand Buteyko Breathing practitioner. This encounter opened his eyes to the profound medical importance of proper breathing and inspired him to become a dentist. After obtaining his dental license, he practiced at a paediatric dental clinic in Shizuoka, gaining extensive clinical experience and serving as clinic director. To further elevate his expertise in breathing retraining and scale his impact, he transitioned into an entrepreneurial role and founded Less is More Co., Ltd. as Founder & CEO. Today, he balances his active clinical work as a paediatric dentist with his executive role at Less is More Co., Ltd. Through his company, he leads B2B consulting to help dental practices implement paediatric orthodontic and breathing retraining systems, delivers individual breathing sessions for adults, and conducts educational seminars nationwide. He completed his Buteyko Institute Method training with Glenn White and became an accredited Associate Practitioner of the Buteyko Institute of Breathing and Health (BIBH). Focusing on breathing conditions in children, such as mouth breathing, he is dedicated to expanding airway-focused approaches from the combined perspective of paediatric dentistry, myofunctional orthodontics, and business leadership—helping patients and practices regain healthy breathing habits across Japan.
